Bio:Naaz has deep submarine cable system and telecommunications industry experience gained over more than 20 years in both operational and marketing roles. She has formed close relationships with people across many countries and in many areas of business, in subsea and beyond. Naaz was formally responsible for all Seaborn Networks' global industry conferences, events, and marketing. Her experience and relationships within the market enabled Seaborn to become a highly recognizable presence in the subsea industry. Naaz worked as an Events Coordinator in Bermuda for companies such as Gillette, Flag Telecom, and others creating industry-focused events. Inventory Manager for the Pan-European Network of Global Crossing, subsequently moving to the Global Network in marketing event initiatives. She co-founded Bax Consulting, successfully building out the SGSS system from Guyana to Suriname. Most recently, Naaz is the Founder and CEO of Team Bax, Inc., which specializes in working with telecommunications companies for project consulting, and short or long-term contracts which call for specific expertise in the industry. Naaz brings her passion to the greater industry in many ways; in addition to being a Capacity Media Advocate and volunteering as an advocate and Ambassador for raising awareness for the Lupus Foundation of America, Naaz is an active member in the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) space. Part of The Inclusion Hub and as a SubOptic DIB Working Group member, she works collaboratively to drive initiatives that bring younger and more diverse individuals to the subsea community. Naaz is also a mentor in the SubOptic Mentoring Program, spearheaded and launched in June 2021 as part of the DIB. She is also working closely to help the newly launched SubOptic Foundation create its marketing and operational planning in collaboration with the Board of Advisors and the SubOptic Association. Naaz was a co-founder and champion of Women in Subsea and Youth Entering Subsea initiatives and has been dedicated to furthering this message in the public arena. In September 2022, Naaz was appointed to the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) Advisory Council, where she was asked to join the PTC Beyond committee to continue her work to encourage the next generation of industry professionals to join and progress in telecoms. Through it all, she has broken through barriers and paved the way for future generations of women to succeed and has been instrumental in helping other women further their careers. Mission Critical recognized Naaz as one of the Top 25 Women In Technology, shortlisted for Best Woman in Subsea in Capacity Media’s Global Women in Telco & Tech Awards 2020, and was featured in the 2020 and 2019 editions of Capacity Media’s 20 Women to Watch and the Global Carrier Community Women In Tech Winter/Spring 2022 Magazine. Naaz has built both her personal and professional life based on the principle that life is all about connecting – whether physically, virtually, or a combination of the two – and this has allowed her to build relationships, teams, and lifelong friends and colleagues across the globe. She continues to further her experience through events, workshops, panels, articles, board participation and mentoring.
