Title:Submarine Cable – The Connectivity Evolution: The Past, Present, and Future
TitleEtc:, Chief Executive Officer, Aqua Comms, Ireland
Abstract:According to SubTel Forum, the subsea cable industry has added an average of 32 percent of capacity annually on major submarine cable routes between 2013 and 2017. This is due to the changing connectivity landscape, including content providers’ rising capacity requirements, largely driven by the world's insatiable demand for more data. What does the future look like for submarine cable systems as capacity needs grow exponentially past the 100-gigabit circuit demands we're already seeing today? How are subsea cable system development, funding, and ownership models being impacted? What technological innovations and advanced network architecture are required as subsea cable providers look to address the ever-expanding global digital economy?
