Bio:Bruce Elbert is the founder and president of communications consultancy Application Technology Strategy, L.L.C., Austin, Texas, USA, and has over 40 years of experience in information technology, wireless and satellite communications, from engineering and management perspectives. Prior to this, he held senior management and engineering positions with Hughes Electronics and COMSAT. He is an adjunct professor (retired) at the University of Wisconsin, College of Engineering, and an instructor at the UCLA Extension where he presents courses on satellite communications and IT networking. He has authored nine books on telecommunications, satellite and network technology and business management, including The Satellite Communication Applications Handbook (second edition 2004), Introduction to Satellite Communication (third edition, 2008), The Satellite Communication Ground Segment and Earth Station Handbook (second edition, 2014), and Radio Frequency Interference in Communications Systems (2016). He holds an MBA degree from Pepperdine University, an MS degree in communications engineering and computer science from the University of Maryland and a BEE from CCNY. He is a member of the IEEE, AIAA and PTC.
