Bio:Philip M. Napoli is the James R. Shepley Professor of Public Policy in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University, where he is also a Professor of International Comparative Studies and a Faculty Affiliate with the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy. He is the author of the new book, Social Media and the Public Interest: Media Regulation in the Disinformation Age (Columbia University Press). Professor Napoli has provided expert testimony to government bodies such as the U.S. Senate, the Federal Communications Commission, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office. His research has been supported by organizations such as the Democracy Fund, the Ford Foundation, the Benton Foundation, and the Knight Foundation. He has been interviewed in media outlets such as the New York Times, NPR, NBC Nightly News, Rolling Stone, and Bloomberg.
