Bio:Colin Kippen is native Hawaiian and is an advocate who has committed his life to serving the needs of the native people of the United States. He has held positions as a prosecutor, trial lawyer, tribal judge, and Senior Counsel to the US Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. He has served as the executive director of the National Indian Education Association (NIEA) and the Native Hawaiian Education Council (NHEC) as well as the deputy administrator of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs in charge of enforcing and protecting the rights of Native Hawaiians. He has been appointed to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) board by the Secretary of the Interior and has served both as a member and as the chair. He is a former member of the Presidential Scholars Commission appointed by President Obama and is presently a member of the governing board of the National Museum of the American Indian. He is presently employed as the policy director of the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.
