Bio:Brandon Maka’awa’awa is from Waimanalo. He is the Deputy Head of State of the Nation of Hawaii, which is the oldest Hawaiian Independence Organization. Brandon assists in the day to day operations of Pu’uhonua O Waimanalo, the Nation’s sovereign land base. Brandon also leads Nation of Hawaii’s delegation to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, where he has given interventions over the past 3 years on Hawaiian National Sovereignty, peaceful coexistence, economic development, innovation and the power of connectivity. Brandon is also Vice-President of Na Po’e Kokua, a non-profit organization that advocates for the development of more affordable housing options for Hawaiians. Brandon advocates on behalf of Nation of Hawai’i at all levels of government on different issues impacting Hawaiians.
