Bio:Over the last 39 years, Mr. Kanahele has worked with a broad cross section of Kupuna throughout the islands, directly involved in the organization and facilitation of more than 100 gatherings to empower Kupuna over the past three decades. On September 24, 1993, Mr. Kanahele negotiated an agreement in principle with the state Department of Land & Natural Resources (DLNR) for a 55 year lease. On March 29, 2001, a 55 year lease, signed with the State. Mr. Kanahele has also maintained an active role in the movement to restore and advance the rights of the indigenous peoples throughout the world. He has served on the Board of Directors of the International Indian Treaty Council for 25 years. Currently, forging International Relations with Japan, Thailand, Canada and the U.S. he has expanded the economic opportunities for the Nation of Hawai’i.
