Bio:With 20 years in marine management, Lorraine Gray is an expert in marine planning and licensing, having written one of the world’s first marine spatial plans (Shetland Islands): a statutory instrument in the Scottish planning regime that helps developers decide on site selection. She worked for the Scottish government as a Cables Specialist, issuing licenses to survey and for installation, then joined Pioneer Consulting to lead Transatlantic and European permitting. Lorraine is a specialist in commercial fishing and fish ecology impacts: she has five years EIA experience in renewables and oil and gas. She is a GIS expert, having applied this skill to oil spill contingency mapping, zoning renewables, and aquaculture for Scottish and English governments. She has also written guidance on zoning for the European Commission and served as thesis supervisor at the University Centre of the Westfjords, Iceland, and as a Fellowship Evaluator at the Marine Institute, Galway.
