TitleCompany:Ph.D. Candidate, Penn State University, USA
Bio:Ryan Wang currently is a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Communications with a minor in Social Data Analytics in Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State University. His research mainly lies in the intersectionality of digital infrastructure, political communication and computational social science. Specifically, he is interested in (1) how digital infrastructure influences political polarization in the U.S. context under a spatially aware framework, and (2) how digital/social media facilitate the formation of public opinion, and (de)mobilization of online political and civic participation. He leverages a variety of computational methods in his own research, including machine learning, natural language processing, network analysis, agent-based modeling, and integrate them with communication and media theories.
